Hot taps or boiling water taps as they might be more commonly known as, have steadily grown in popularity year on year. They’re a brilliant way to save both time and energy. As well as being very economic and safer than the traditional kettle in a lot of ways. In our fitted kitchen showroom we have a range of different displays that the hot tap would suit perfectly, so if you’ve been thinking about getting one, here are our pros and cons!
Benefits of a hot tap in your fitted kitchen
The most obvious benefit when it comes to a hot tap is that you don’t need to wait around, you can get boiling water instantly. Getting your hot water this way actually uses less energy than a kettle and means you can get rid of the kettle altogether to save space.
It’s also a great tool when it comes to cooking! You can speed up cooking times of things like rice and pasta as you don’t need to wait for the water to boil any more. Not only that, many taps now offer filtered and even chilled water as well as boiling.
Hot tap considerations
Some hot taps need a lot of space underneath your sink unit, so it’s worth making sure it would fit both under and above your sink. So this means planning extra storage solutions if you currently store things under the sink.
It’s worth thinking about the general placement of the hot tap as well and what you’re going to be using it for. Some people have a small sink/hot tap on their kitchen island to use solely for prep or cooking. So they like to have it separate to their normal tap.
