And lighting is on of those things that tends to be forgotten about when it comes to functionality. We know you want your kitchen lighting to look good but don’t chose style over substance. What is task lighting?
So task lighting means having the brightest lights targeting your working area. SO that includes your counter tops, stoves and even the sink. This is all because those areas of the kitchen get used the most and you need to be able to see what you’re doing while in the kitchen. A perfect example of task lighting is have down lights under your cupboards, ceiling mounted directional spots or even rise and fall lighting. The last option works particularly well in kitchens with a kitchen island or joining dining area.
If you do decide to upgrade your fitted kitchen lighting then it’s worth thinking about a few things before you install your lights.
- Always consider where your glare is going to be from the lights. If you’ve got worktops that are highly reflective then you don’t want light bouncing directly on them.
- Lighting control is important as well. If you are hosting a dinner party, then you don’t want bright glaring lights. However, you need to be able to see what you’re doing when you’re cooking your roast dinner on a Sunday!
