The main thing in a bedroom is the bed. Don’t scrimp and save when it comes to bedding. If you have the same sized bedding in both your room and the spare room, then you can just rotate the bedding that you use. But you know the feeling of getting into a comfortable bed after a long day, why not pass that feeling onto your much loved guests?
You could even create little welcome packs for your guests. That could be something as simple a nice clean towel, spare toothbrush and even some slippers. This is also an easy way to hint to your guests that you don’t want them to wear their shoes in your house.
When it comes to decorating the room, you could really go all out. Why not bring some hotel chic into your home? Just because technically it’s your spare room, doesn’t mean it has to be kept plain and boring. You can really experiment with the interior design in the guest room and see what works and what doesn’t. You can then choose your favourite little bits and even bring them into your main fitted bedroom.
It’s also important to not forget about storage for your guests. Although it might be a storage space for you, your guests will also need somewhere to store their overnight gear without feeling like they’re taking up your space.
