Designing a fitted kitchen can be difficult, there are so many choices, so many decisions to make and it can become something that can run away with itself and end up spiraling out of control. However, there’s where we come into play! Our team at Starplan Fitted Kitchens Showrooms have years of experience behind them when it comes to designing and creating the ideal fitted kitchen balance.

Fitted kitchen balance

Carrying out a major kitchen refurb is a huge job, and there is fine line in getting the balance right between style and practicality, not to mention creating a kitchen that suits you.

Well thought out materials is one way to achieve the look you want, but accessories are also helpful. Decorating using accessories means it’s easier to change the kitchen style if your taste changes in the future.

It’s important to take in the entire room into account when you’re planning to redecorate. You might want to stick with the original tiles and base the colour scheme around them, or brighten up the original flooring and match the wood type to the counter tops. Don’t forget to make a note of how much natural light the room gets, to make sure you don’t flood it full of artificial light when it doesn’t need it.

Another way to balance the room is to take stock and review the surroundings. If the view from your window is cold or harsh, soften it up using warm wood, greenery, soft material furnishings and vice versa.

Finally, colour is one of the easiest ways in which to create a balance. Deep colours such as navy, dark green and dark greys all work well on cabinet doors and walls. However, brighter shades tend to work well for feature pieces such as freestanding dressers or maybe a glossy glass splash back.
