As described by Pantone themselves, 19-4052 Classic Blue is ‘elegant in its simplicity’ whilst ‘bringing laser like clarity’ and ‘a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.’ Now you may be wondering why us here at Starplan, a fitted bedroom company would be talking about Pantone and their Colour of the Year. Well we like to keep our ears to the ground when it comes to all things home design and year on year Pantone have been the one to predict colour trends. So it would be silly for us to ignore their 2020 predictions.
While we agree you might not want your fitted bedroom furniture in blue (although we do offer a slick looking indigo grain finish!) but it’s an excellent colour to incorporate into your bedroom. Forget bright, brass and bold tones like electric or neon blue, but think more along the lines of teal, navy, and pastel tones.
Here at some of our favourite ways to use blue in the bedroom –
- Paint the ceiling sky blue
This could be a ground breaking idea, but no one says that your ceiling has to be white or neutral. It seems like some sort of decorating unwritten rule, however if you just think about it like another wall then you have nothing holding you back.
- Have a blue focal point
If you don’t want to go to the length of painting or creating a full feature wall, then why not just pick a focal point? That could be something like a fireplace, door or even curtains.
- Pair blue with a complimentary colour
Blues and greens go together like two peas in a pod. They can create a warm and tropical feel which can be exaggerated with leafy accessories as well as being mixed with burnt oranges and browns.
